Amsterdam, July 18, 2022 – NorthC Group continues its expansion in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) with the acquisition of a data center in Winterthur (near Zurich). This brings the number of NorthC data centers in Switzerland to four, following the acquisition of three data centers from Netrics in April 2022.
This acquisition is the next step in NorthC’s growth strategy for the Benelux and the DACH region, after the company started its international expansion in September 2021 with the acquisition of two datacenters in Germany. NorthC also continues to expand in the Netherlands, including a second data center in Eindhoven, which is currently being built and will become operational in the autumn of 2024.
Kyndryl Switzerland GmbH, part of the Kyndryl Group, one of the world’s largest providers of ICT infrastructure services, has signed a Managed Service Agreement for co-location services at the Winterthur data center. Kyndryl thus becomes NorthC’s first customer in this data center. In addition, NorthC will open the Winterthur data center to other customers in the region.

Of course, we also bring our most important NorthC values to this data center, such as our focus on sustainability and on close, personal customer relationships.”
The Winterthur data center is an important hub for data communication in the region. A wide range of major telecom providers are present at the facility. The data center currently has an IT capacity of 1.8MW, with further expansion options to meet growing demand.
NorthC will also connect this data center to NorthC’s three other data centers in Switzerland, which are located in Münchenstein (Basel region) and Biel (Bern region).
